Writer, Creator, Storyteller.
Stanford graduate and international award-winning writer with a passion for interactive storytelling, global issues, entertainment, education, and public service. I explore the interplay of art, technology, media, advocacy, and the written word to create informed, compelling stories that speak to the human experience, create lasting impact, and leave the world a more compassionate, curious place.
Welcome. I’m so glad you’re here.
Stories That Matter.
I believe in the necessity of storytelling to inspire change.
From VR films to graphic novels to interactive fiction games, I’ve deconstructed the intricacies of narrative and experimented with its many forms.
To me, creation is liberation. My activism and my art are inseparable, indistinguishable. They are one and the same.
My work grapples with issues of identity, heritage, representation, and belonging, particularly as they pertain to the colored, feminine body. My projects center marginalized voices and the lived realities of those whose experiences are often purposefully ignored, erased, or forgotten. Silence, too, is a type of violence, so I fill the spaces with mindful noise, to speak into existence truth and healing.
This is my love letter to the Asian American diaspora. To my family, to myself, and to immigrants everywhere, I want to say:
I hear you. I see you. I feel you.
I am you.
And we matter.
Where I’m From.
I’m proud to call the lush forests of the Pacific Northwest my home. I grew up in Portland, Oregon, surrounded by rain and pine trees and my heart never left. Even though I’ve been fortunate enough to see much of the world, there’s just something about Oregon sunsets that never fail to leave me yearning and breathless.
I owe my love of airports to every Oregonian’s secret pride: PDX (Portland International Airport), voted “Best U.S. Airport” by Travel + Leisure magazine for seven years in a row. Oh yeah, it’s kind of a big deal.
No matter where life takes me, I know that every time I step onto that blue-green patterned carpet, I’ll be coming home.
More Than Words.
I am first and foremost a writer.
For as long as I can remember, I was writing. One of my earliest memories is me, age 5 or 6, and my mom sitting at the computer. She would type as I spoke, and that became the first short story I ever wrote.
Writing was how I discovered my voice. It shapes my entire identity and makes up the foundation of who I am. Through writing, I reinvent myself.
Throughout the years, I’ve had the opportunity to write for various publications. My work has been featured in The Leland Quarterly, The Heritage Review, The Stanford Daily, Time Out Shanghai, The Lake Oswego Review, and elsewhere. My writing has been recognized internationally by the Surrey International Writers’ Conference, as well as nationally by The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and The YoungArts Foundation.
My writing is personal. It is political. It is how I make sense of this vast, wonderful world. Most of all, it is filled with infinite amounts of love and joy for language, for people, and for life itself.
This is me, laid bare on the page, for you. Please tread softly.
Here is my wish: that you come across a little scrap of something that speaks to you, that nudges something tender and nascent in your own self.
When that happens, I ask that you take that scrap, grasp it tightly, and let it sing.
